Dear North Cottesloe Primary Families
I had hoped to get this message out to you earlier today but, as I’m sure you can appreciate, today has been a little hectic.
The Health Department has stated this morning that the staff and students of our school are still not at risk as we have not been in close contact with a confirmed case of novel coronavirus.
There has been talk within the community regarding people’s ‘right to know’. Please be aware that there are very strict protocols in place regarding the distribution of citizens’ medical histories. I, nor my staff, have the authority to divulge any information about other students or their families.
I’d like to thank all the community members who have phoned and emailed with messages of support. These are very uncertain times and it is easy to feel isolated. Please take the time to monitor the mental health of yourself and your families. We need to be mindful of our neighbours and check in to ensure they are okay. This is particularly important in the case of our children who pick up on our anxieties.
Please continue to be mindful of practices that will minimise the spread of any infection.
• Continue to emphasise the need for hygienic practices with your children:
o Don’t share food and drink;
o Wash hands regularly for at least 20 seconds; (Sing all of Happy Birthday to You while you wash.)
o Cough into the crook of your elbow; and
o Preference a drink bottle over water fountains.
• Be mindful of social distancing.
o Reduce the time you spend in your child’s classroom at the start of the day.
o Refrain from remaining on site at the end of the day if you aren’t attending school activities.
Thank you again for your support and understanding during these trying times.
If you have concerns, then please don’t hesitate to make contact.
