Library
At the heart of our school is the library that is well-stocked with an assortment of fiction, non-fiction and graphic novel books of high interest to students. This fantastic space has been configured to allow students to enjoy the solitude of reading or quiet group work as well as supporting teachers through class lessons and borrowing sessions.
A weekly library visit is incorporated into the class timetable. Students are also welcome to exchange books outside of their allocated class time - at lunchtimes on Tuesday and Thursday, and after school Monday - Thursday.
Students from Kindy to Year 2 are able to borrow up to 2 books and Year 3-6 may borrow 4 books for a fortnight. Students can exchange books more frequently if they prefer, or renew them. Extra items can be loaned by arrangement with Mrs Mannolini, the Library Officer. Borrowing is also encouraged during school holidays, when loan limits are increased.
Students can use our online search system system to browse our collection, and to reserve items. Please see instructions for searching here.
To ensure care for borrowed books, students will need to bring their library bag for borrowing. These are available from the Uniform Shop, although any plasticated bag will suffice.
Please make sure you know when your child's library day is and encourage them to share their books with you, even the older students. There has been a lot of research which shows that reading to your child, even long after they can independently read, helps them with all areas of learning.
CBCA Book Week is celebrated each August with displays, incursions, activities and a dress up parade (find easy, low cost costume ideas here). The theme for 2022 is "Dreaming With Eyes Open...".
